Accra, Sept. 20, GNA - The National Soccer Academy, situated at the C.K Gyamfi Sports College at Winneba has become the latest addition to football schools participating in Ghanaian leagues.

Mr Dominique Asabia, Director of the College told the GNA Sports at Winneba that the Academy had registered to play in the Central Region Division Two League, in order to give the boys a platform to showcase their talents.

The Director said the Academy was determined to produce soccer players who would take their rightful places in the national teams to justify the objectives for which it was set up.

In his contribution, Mr Abubar Yussif, head coach of the Academy said he had groomed 28 players ready for competition and was optimistic that they would win the Regional league and qualify for the Division One League.

He said apart from teaching the boys techniques and tactics, they are also tutored to uphold the dictates of nationalism and patriotism, which would make them produce a high level of commitment and dedication if they gained national call ups.

The coach said his boys were all 17 years and below and tasked the national team selectors to monitor the progress of the team and give deserving players a look in, in future age group selections.

Mr Yussif called on corporate institutions to come forward and sponsor the team, as they prepare to colour the Central Region Division Two League, with their brand of attractive and entertaining football.

The coach lauded the Ministry of Education and Sports for their initiative and support and promised to produce top class players that would lift high the flag of Ghana in the not too distant future.

Premiership side Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord and Nania F/C of the Division One League, owned by former Black Stars skipper Abedi Ayew Pele are some of the soccer academies making waves in Ghanaian football.
