Aitor Karanka Advises Arvin Appiah To Work Hard For First Team Opportunities At Nottingham Forest Next Season

Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka has urged English-born Ghanaian youngster Arvin Appiah and Virgil Gomis to punch above their weights to command first-team opportunities next season.

Appiah likewise Gomis, were revelations for the Tricky Trees in the just ended English reserves league - with the Ghanaian young forward earning a call-up into the England U-17 set-up for the 2018 European Championship.

Appiah's electric performance informed manager Aitor Karanka to invite him to train with the senior squad at the club's Nigel Doughty Academy, and Spanish gaffer has implored him to work harder if he breaks into the team squad next term.

'I think they will; I think so,' said Karanka, when asked if they will have a first team role to play next season. 'Because with a lot of games to play, we will need them."

'We have involved them in training sessions already and when we are playing Saturday-Tuesday through the season, they will work with us on the training ground."

'But I do not want them to read the paper and think that they will definitely have a chance, because I said so in an interview - because they will be wrong."

'They still have to work for it; they still have to work hard for their opportunity.'
