Match Review Panel Exonerates Referee Prosper Adii And Assistant Phillip Darko For Disallowing Dwarfs A Penalty In Kotoko Clash

The GFA Executive Committee has ratified the decision by Match Review Panel to exonerate referee Prosper Adii and assistant Phillip Darko of any wrongdoing in the Premier League game between Kotoko and Ebusua Dwarfs in Kumasi.

The MRP reviewed the video of the match to establish whether Prosper Adii erred in disallowing a 'goal' by Dwarfs and dismissing the visitors' player Albert Gaisie while evaluating the general performance of the match officials in the matchday-6 encounter which Kotoko won by 2-1.

The Committee concluded that Prosper Addii was right in disallowing the goal since the ball did not completely cross the goal-line.

"The clip clearly showed that the ball didn't cross the goal-line before Kotoko goalkeeper Felix Annan grabbed it. The clip showed that the whole of the ball didn't pass 'over the goal-line' in the FIFA Law 10".

The Committee further noted that Dwarfs' Albert Gaisie 'deserved the second yellow card and the red card' since the tackle that caused the decision was 'reckless'.

"On the 76th-minute expulsion of the Dwarfs player, the Committee felt that since the player was already on a yellow card before his reckless tackle on the Kotoko player, he deserved the red card", the document read.

On the general performance of the match officials, the Committee stated that they performed above average and that they committed no major errors.

"The Committee's recommendation not to sanction Referee Prosper Addii and Assistant Referee Phillip Darko is upheld by the Executive Committee."
