Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi has suggested he is loved across the length and breadth of Ghana.

His statement contradicts popular opinion that his GFA administration lacks transparency while football is collapsing in the West African country.

Most Ghanaians have called for the CAF First Vice President to exit the GFA with his former Vice George Afriyie widely favoured by the public to succeed him.

Nyantakyi has been Ghana FA President for 13 years but club football in the country is stifling over lack of corporate sponsorship while football patronage has done downhill.

Before Nyantakyi took over the Presidency in 2005, two Ghanaian clubs Hearts of Oak and Kotoko played in the final of the Confederation Cup.

But, clubs have struggled to make it pass the preliminary stages in the last 10 years.

Match venues are almost empty with supporters losing interest in the local game. Local investors are gradually withdrawing their financial support while player salary and signing fees are enburdening clubs.

While these challenges remain, Nyantakyi who has been widely reported to be interested in seeking a fourth term in office has claimed Ghanaians love him and will also support him.

“There are people who don’t like me but the people who love me are far more than those who don’t love me,” he told Accra-based Neat FM.

Former GFA Spokesperson and member of the Association Randy Abbey has revealed that Nyantakyi has nothing more offer Ghana football.

The Heart of Lions bankroller went ahead to state that Nyantakyi has failed to fulfil almost all his campaign promises and wants delegates and Ghanaians to hold him to accounts.
