Youth and Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah has yet again cut a sod for the construction of a multi-purpose youth sports centre of excellence in Axim.

The facility, expected to be completed in nine months will house FIFA-standard football pitch, eight-lane athletic track, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, ICT, Gymnasium, counselling and entrepreneurship centres, washrooms, as well as a restaurant.

The Minister pointed out that a Maintenance Unit would be created which will employ 50 youth from Nzemaland to take care of the facility, subject to periodic inspection by the National Youth Association.

He said ” This is more than a stadium, it is the vision of President Akufo- Addo to provide platforms for the youth in the country, hence this facility across the nation. It will certainly help unearth talents in Nzemaland.”

Member of Parliament for Evalue Gwira Ajomoro and Minister for Tourism, Arts & Culture, Catherine Afeku said “This is to say a big thank you for the confidence reposed in us. Continue believing in us, plans are in place for the sea defense project, DVLA Centre and other projects we have for Nzemaland.

"Support us with prayers so we will bring more developmental projects. As you can see behind the gathering, I have succeeded in securing a bus for my alma mater, Nsein Senior High.”

National Youth Association CEO, Emmanuel Asigiri lauded the ministry for the project due to its potential of empowering the youth.

Project consultant, Joe Hackman gave assurance that the facility being handled by Bismark Obuobi (Contractor) was scheduled to begin last Sunday.
