I Am The Only Player To Save Accra Hearts Of Oak From Relegation—Sammy Adjei
27.04.2018 LISTEN

Former Accra Hearts of Oak, Sammy Adjei, has revealed that he will be the only and the best player to save his former club from their disappointing performances in the ongoing 2017/2018 league season if he is signed to keep the post.

According to him, he is the best goalkeeper in the country, for both the local league and the senior national team, the Black Stars, and he urged the club’s management to consider his signing to lift them from the bottom of the league table to avoid relegation.

The 37-year-old goalie was sacked by David Duncan after the 2004/2005 league season when he (Duncan) took over as the head coach, and the former Black Stars goalie has not played for any football team, both local and international.

Speaking on OTEC FM's evening sports show, Royal Sports, on Thursday, Sammy Adjei said as far as his goalkeeping prowess is concerned, he is compared to none in the country and that makes him the “saviour of Hearts of Oak”, not even the management.

"I was promised by Hearts of Oaks management that they will call me when coach Duncan leaves, now that he is no more, they can call me, am still waiting because team’s problem now is goalkeeping, and I can be in the post so that the boys can learn from me for the next five years, then I move on to the coaching course,“ he said.

“Currently in the country, no goalkeeper comes near the experience I have now, not a single goalkeeper, even those playing abroad. I feel sad to see my former club at the bottom of the league of the table, what a shame. If they sign me now, you will see how I will help the club from recording defeats and help them avoid relegation,” he beastly assured.

"My little advice to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is that they should come and seek for my service and am ever ready because our nation (Black Stars) needs goalkeeper in my calibre, to win laurels for the country," Adjei told OTEC Fm

Sammy Adjei, was a key figure in winning the 2000 Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Champions League under the late Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, he also made two Nations Cup appearances in 2002 and 2006 in Mali and Egypt respectively before losing the number one spot to Richard Kingson for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
