Officials of the Ghana Amputee League on Saturday launched the maiden league scheduled for May this year, as well as the logo.

Fourteen matches would be played fortnightly in a seven-a-side game over four months.

Overall winner would receive a giant trophy, GH¢20,000 and a set of jerseys.

Also at stake are special prizes for the most valuable player, top scorer and best goalkeeper.

“All is set for the commencement of the league. Logistics that would be needed are ready and we are only waiting for the month of May.

“We shall embark on a trophy tour and present the trophy at stake to some top officers for financial support and to let them know what we are doing,” said Daniel Nii Mensah, Chairman of the Amputee League Board.

He appealed to corporate Ghana to support the competition.

The logo has a player with a football sitting on a fire in a circle to signify perpetuity and oneness.

Later, officials led some representatives of the teams to the venue-Accra Stadium where they demonstrated rules of the game, as well as markings on the pitch.

Clutches are to be distributed to the players.
The offside rule is not applicable in the seven-a-side game.
