Saltpond, Aug. 13, GNA- The Omanhene of Abeadze-Dominase Traditional Area in the Central Region, Nana Kweku Ewusie VII on Friday appealed to the government to transform Saltpond into a political tourist centre where people from the Diaspora could learn the genesis of Ghana's political evolution.

He said the cradle of Ghanaian politics was Saltpond, therefore, the town should be accorded its rightful place in the annals of Ghana's history.

Nana Kweku Ewusie made the appeal at a grand durbar of the chiefs and people of Anomabo Traditional Area in honour of President John Agyekum Kufuor who is on a five-day tour of the Central Region, at Saltpond.

He commended the government for undertaking expansion work on Brimso and Baifikrom water works to ensure uninterrupted water supply to Cape Coast Municipality and the Mfantseman District. President Kufuor directed that the Ministry of Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City, to initiate measures to preserve monument of Ghanaians politicians including their places of abode, home towns and legacies.

On the reactivation of the Saltpond ceramics, President Kufuor was optimistic that with the provision of gas from the West African gas project more energy would be available for the revamping of the factory.
