Ashanti Women's soccer league kicks off on Saturday

Kumasi, Aug 11, GNA - Seven teams will participate in this year's Ashanti Region Women's Football League which is scheduled to kick off on Saturday.

Fabulous Ladies will seek to defend the title they won last year but would face stiff opposition from the other teams including Ghatel Ladies who have drawn a bye, Madonna Ladies, Osei Tutu Ladies, Envoy Ladies, Oforikrom Ladies and Ash-Town Ladies who are hard nuts to crack. Speaking to the GNA Sports in Kumasi on Thursday, Mr Christian Yeboah, Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Football Association (RAF) said Fabulous Ladies would clash with archrival Ash-Town Ladies in a match that promises to be uncompromising at the WESCO Park.

When the two clubs met recently in the semi-finals of the regional gala competition, Ash-Town Ladies beat Fabulous Ladies 1-0 and so it is against this background that Fabulous Ladies go into the match in an effort to seek revenge.

In the other matches, Envoy Ladies play host to Oforikrom Ladies at the Kumasi Anglican Secondary School Park while Madonna Ladies also play host to Osei Tutu Ladies at the Sepe-Timpom Park. Mr Yeboah advised the participating teams to be disciplined and abide by the rules and regulations of the game to ensure an incident-free League.
