Former Asante Kotoko captain, Joe Hendricks has called on the management of the club to buy quality strikers before the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League season starts.

The Reds struggled to find the back of the net during the 2016/17 GPL campaign scoring only 23 goals out of 30 matches played.

In the first match against CARA Brazzaville in the CAF Confederations Cup, the Porcupine Warriors squandered three penalties at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium before striker, Yakubu Mohammed climbed off the bench to convert a late penalty to give them a slight lead.

Kotoko were crashed out of the competition after losing 6-7 on penalties in Congo in the second league in the preliminary of the competition.

But Hendricks says his former employers need to buy better strikers before the season start.

"I think Kotoko players did quite well despite their exit from the Confederations Cup," he told Cape Coast-based ATL FM.

"Notwithstanding, I also believe that the current strikers available to the team are not prolific enough to help the club win laurels especially, the forthcoming Ghana premier league.

"People say there are no quality strikers in Ghana for now and I think the management should use the money and assets they promised the players prior to the start of the CAF Confederations cup to go outside the country and buy two or three quality strikers to be able to compete for the forthcoming Ghana premier league title," he added.
