Black Queens midfielder Priscilla Okyere has bemoaned their profligacy in the opening fixture of the maiden WAFU Zone B Nations Cup defeat to Ivory Coast on Wednesday.

Captain Dominique Thiamale's second-half strike was enough to help host country Ivory Coast defeat the Queens 1-0 in the opening match of the competition.

"We created several chances in the first half," she said after the game. "We had a plan for the second half, we listened to what the coach said in recess, we tried everything on the pitch, but lost."

"We could have beat them (Ivory Coast) 4-0 in the first half but this is football."

"Once we could not take our chances and the once chance they had, they scored."

The attacking midfielder was however confident going forward, insisting they have learnt a lot for the game and can go far in the competition.

"We have learnt a lot from the game," she added.
The Black Queens will next face Niger, who lost their opener against Burkina Faso.
