Sudan are out to cause an upset at the 2018 Caf African Nations Championship tournament when they meet Nigeria in the semifinals on Wednesday at the Stade de Marrakech.

The Falcons of Jediane will be gunning for another win in the knockout stages as they meet one of the most powerful nations in African continental football.

Fresh from a 1-0 win over the Chipolopolo of Zambia last Saturday, Sudan will be motivated to lock horns against Nigeria.

Having started with two wins in Group A over Mauritania and Guinea, the North Africans suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Atlas Lions of Morocco.

Coach Zdravko Logarusic has a tough task ahead of him and will push his troops to go all out as they have one match to win to reach the final of the tournament.

Shifting focus to the West Africans, Nigeria are gaining momentum at the right time in the continental showpiece.

Coach Salisu Yusuf is aware of the pressure from fans back home and will now want to secure a spot in the final on Sunday.

Yusuf led his troops to two wins in Group C as they defeated the Mediterranean Knights of Libya 1-0 and demolished Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea 3-1.

However, they failed to open their group stage account with a win as they drew 0-0 against the Amavubi of Rwanda.

Despite their lukewarm start, they regained their confidence and secured a vital 2-1 win over the gutsy Palancas Negras of Angola on Sunday in the quarterfinals.

With both sides having previously met on 13 occasions, the Super Eagles enjoy an advantage of seven wins, four draws and have lost twice to the Falcons.

Many will predict a walkover for the 2018 Fifa World Cup-bound Nigerian side, but previous results will count for nothing on Wednesday as both sides want to book a spot in the final.
