The president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has given the clearest indication that his government will not interfere in the affairs of the Ghana Football Association.

The country’s football governing body has been accused of mismanaging funds over the years and has been slammed for dragging the Ghana Premier League into the gutters.

However, many football fandoms in the country have called on the president to end such concur but the president in an interaction with the Media at the Flagstaff House on Wednesday insisted that FIFA are not happy when anybody interferes in the affairs of football and his administration will adhere to such rule.

“As far as mismanagement of revenue in football is a concern, my understanding is that, the football association by FIFA rules is supposed to be an independent body organization and those who are involved in football administration and those who in football administration in the country will deal with issues of mismanagement if there is any mismanagement.

“I don’t believe it is an area where the government should intervene to sort things out if things need to be sorted out. Those in the industry, those in the sector, and those in football are those ones who are meant to deal with football issues and my understand is that the basic rule is that FIFA are insisting that there should be no executive interference in the administration of football anywhere in the world and I am ready to do that.”
