We Are Not Interested In Result Against Hearts of Oak – Obed Acheampong

Communication Director of Asante Kotoko, Obed Acheampong has reiterated that they are not interested in results against Hearts of Oak in the semifinals of the ongoing GHALCA G8 tournament.

The MTN FA Cup champions will take on their sworn rivals, Hearts of Oak in the semifinals in the ongoing GHALCA G8 tournament at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

Despite their huge rivalry, Obed says they are not interested in the outcome of the match but will rather focus on cementing the loopholes in the team ahead of their Africa campaign.

“It is an opening game. Hearts of Oak have a point to prove and we also have a point to prove. We are not interested in the results but we are looking to see a team that will expose the weakness in the Kotoko setup that will give the technical team something to think about so they can better the team and that is our focus,” he told Class FM.

“We are welcoming this match as a preseason and we are looking beyond the results. It is not going to be a do or die affair but rather we are interested in the flow of the team, the chemistry in the team and the fitness of the team’s setup.”

He further added that they are satisfied with the squad they have at the moment and will bring in players when the need arises.

“There is always the need to bring in talents that are capable of adding value to the team and that are what we are looking at right now. We strongly believe the squad we have at the moment but when the need arises and the door open to bring in good players, we will do that but we have confidence in the players we registered for our Africa campaign.”
