We Need To Roof Bukom Boxing Arena - Carl Lokko

An Executive Board Member of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Mr Lawrence Carl Lokk has pleaded with Government to consider roofing the Bukom Boxing Arena to make it a complete edifice.

The facility, which the then President Mahama said will help revive the nation's dwindling fortunes in sports during its inauguration, comprises an 800-seater sports auditorium, a two-storey aerobic, physiotherapy and gym block, a 300-seater conference hall and a 4000-seater open air arena.

The stadium also has a 10-lane Olympic size swimming pool, a restaurant, a nine unit three storey JHS and SHS school for needy students with huge potential in sports and a 20-seater sanitary facility.

Mr. Lokko recounted on how boxing has taken a new shape since the Boxing Arena was completed

" The atmosphere at the Bukom Boxing Arena makes it attractive and an enhancing environment.

Corporate Ghana should take advantage of the sport by investing into it, by so doing the companies can brand the Arena during bouts to attract more people to their products" Mr Lokko told Bogoso based Best 90.5 FM on how the Arena is helping boxing in Ghana.

The CEO of Bronxz Boxing Gym added that one of the challenges the Arena is facing is the roofing,

" last year a boxing competition was rained off because the Arena is not roofed and there was a heavy down pour, I wish the Government roofs it and it will attract promoters to do more world title fights"

The year 2018 is likely to give Ghana so many world titles as Emmanuel Tagoe, Richard Commey, Isaac Dogboe, Duke Mikah and a host of others will be fighting for world titles, GBA wishes all of them well, Mr Lokko added.
