Former Ghanaian international, Samuel Osei Kuffour believes the country cannot win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations that will be held in Cameroon.

Kwesi Appiah and his technical team have been charged by the country’s football body to end Ghana’s 34 trophy-less jinx by winning the trophy in Cameroon.

The closest the Black Stars have come after winning the AFCON in 1982 was in 2010 and 2017 under the auspices of former Chelsea and West Ham manager, Avram Grant where they lost in the finals to Egypt and Cote d’ Ivoire respectively.

Despite the calls for the Kwesi Appiah to break the trophy-less jinx in 2019, the former S Roma and Bayern Munich defender believe there is more to be done to get a hand on the trophy.

“Our target must be 2021. The current crop cannot win in 2019,” the former Bayern Munich star told the media during the unveiling of the top 3 players for the CAF footballer of the year.

“I think we need to do more, we need to prepare very well and make sure we are ready.

“It is not easy as we think, every country will be going for the title and they will be preparing very well and so we must also do well to prepare.”

The four-time African Champions finished fourth in the last edition of the Cup of Nations in Gabon.
