Golf Three Professional Golfers To Participate In The 2017 Mongomo Golf Championship

Three Professional Golfers from the Ghana Professional Golfers Association (PGA) left Ghana on Monday, for the 2017 Mongomo Golf Championship in Equatorial Guinea.

Vincent Torgah, the 2017 West Africa Champion from Tema Country Golf Club, Emos Korblah of Achimota Golf Club and Kojo Barnni, who won the just ended 4th edition of the Gold Fields Championship in Damaang, Tarkwa would represent Ghana at the international competition.

The championship would tee-off from 14th December to 17th December 2017.

The three-day championship, which would see golfers drawn from over 32 countries from Europe, Africa and Asia are expected to use the championship, as a preparatory grounds for the 2020 Olympic Games.

The outstanding golfers from the championship would have the opportunity to play for the qualifiers to participate in the global event.

In an interview with Nana Prempeh, Public Relations Officer (PRO) for PGA, he said the three golfers who were selected on merit have the credentials to represent and win laurels for Ghana and the PGA.

'PGA wishes them well, we know they would not just add up to the numbers but do their best for Ghana," he said.

According to Nana Prempeh, Torgah, who is currently the West African best golfer for winning most of the major competitions in the sub-region, including Senegal Opening, Gabon among others has the ability to soar high.

He said, "although golf is an individual sport, this time around, we have three golfers representing Ghana at the International level and we pray they perform well.

'The level of play they have exhibited in recent tournaments organized, shows their preparedness and I am sure they will perform well' he added.
