DEC 11, 2017 LISTEN

Ghana and Persib Bandung midfielder Michael Essien believes the standard of football in Indonesia is not too bad.

The former Chelsea enforcer signed a one-year-deal with Persib and went on to score five goals in twenty-three appearances as the club finished 13th on the log.

According to the 35-year-old, many soccer players assume that playing in the Indonesian League is undemanding due to the country's position in the FIFA Coca-Cola ranking.

However, Essien explained if the standard of Indonesian football is not as bad as people think.

"Indonesian football standards are pretty good and not as easy as people think," Essien said as quoted from simamaung.com.

"In the League of Indonesia there are also a number of good players, players also play with me."

The Ghanaian, however, did touch on the challenges the league faces during the summer period.

"You know, playing in the summer is not easy."
"But the standards there are good, I'm pretty impressed to be in Indonesia because everything is not easy," said Essien.
