The Ashanti Regional Football Association (RFA) is to build a new Secretariat on its acquired land in Kumasi to enhance football administration.

Mr Osei Tutu-Agyemang, the Chairman, said this had become necessary amid the sharp increase in the number of juvenile and other lower division teams in the region.

Addressing a congress of the association in Kumasi, he added that proposals for support of the project had already been made to some corporate bodies.

The RFA has been operating from the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, a property of the National Sports Authority (NSA).

Club owners, administrators and managers, technical men, corporate organizations and players attended the congress.

Issues, which came up for discussion included the welfare of the teams, financial status of the RFA, player and infrastructure development and the growth of football.

Mr Tutu-Agyemang underlined the need to ensure effective coordination, management and supervision of the activities of the association.

He announced that all relevant information on football administration including player registration at the lower division level had been computerized.

The goal was to build a strong database to check cheating in respect of the names, ages and other profiles of players.

He advised team officials and technical men to take a keen interest in capacity-building programmes run by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to boost their competencies.
