Frank Quist To Attend RADO Board Meeting

The Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) Mr Frank Quist is set to join other dignitaries in Namibia for the Regional Anti-Doping Organization (RADO) board meeting from 28-30th November 2017.

The Annual Africa Zone VI Board Meeting, which is also a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) workshop is scheduled for Windhoek, Namibia would also have two Ghanaians, thus the Chairman of the Anti-Doping Office and National Olympic Committee (NOC).

In a release signed Dr Nicholas Munyonga, Chairman, RADO Board Member-Zimbabwe, copied to the GNA Sports, it said the meeting is expected to 'Discuss the progress achieved since the last Board Meeting in Cape Town, South Africa and would also consider and approve the 2016 Audited Financial Statements.

The meeting would also 'Discuss and approve the 2018 Operational Plan & budget for Africa Zone VI RADO and also discuss issues pertaining to program implementation in member countries of the Africa Zone VI RADO'.

According to the release, the Board Meeting, which would be attended by representatives of all member countries, is a Workshop funded by UNESCO for the Elimination of Doping in Sports.

It said the annual meeting would aim at 'reviewing current activities and developing comprehensive and effective national anti-doping programs and policies and to enhance Code Compliance within the Member States and implementation of the UNESCO.

The workshop is also aimed at 'International Convention against Doping in Sport as well as to facilitate regular and systematic monitoring and evaluation of anti-doping program implementation in the Member States'.

It added that 'it is the primary goal and mandate of the Africa Zone VI RADO to coordinate the promotion of clean sport and protection of clean athletes in member countries in line with the World Anti-Doping Code, the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport and the Olympic Charter.

It said, 'the Africa Zone VI RADO greatly appreciates the critical role played by the media in fighting against the scourge of doping in sport and educating the athletes and general public'.

The Workshop would have the assistance of the Namibian Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service and supported by the Namibian National Olympic Committee as well as the Commonwealth Games Association, with the delegates to the workshop comprising of Senior Government representatives and National Olympic Committee (NOC) leaders from member countries.
