Paga United Football Club has held an Awards Gala to round up its campaign after an eventful season which saw them participating for the first time in the world-renowned Gothia Cup in China and in the Greater Accra second division Zone 3A.

This has been a memorable year for the Accra based side, who won silver at their maiden appearance at the world-renowned Gothia Cup in China in the boys U-25 division earlier in August.

Founded in 2013 by an ex-footballer, Mr John Vaa, Paga United placed a respectable 4th in Zone 3A with 39 points behind eventual winners Emmanuel FC.

Awards were given to deserving players and technical staff at the ceremony held at the residence of the club owner, Mr Vaa, popularly known as 'chairman' at Westlands, a suburb of Accra.

The awardees, who were voted for by the players of the club, include team captain Enoch Lamptey, who won the overall Best Player for his good leadership, with Foster Amaning and David Philips in second and third place respectively.

Promising striker, Tony Mensah, won the Goal King award after scoring 8 goals whiles Agbeko Johnson picked the Best Defender award, followed by Enoch Otabil and David Philips in second and third place respectively.

Goalkeeper Sulemana Mohammed came tops with the Best Goalkeeper award whiles Alex Agyemang took the Youngest Player award, with Wisdom Agbozah and Enoch Sogah Adom taking second and third place respectively.

Three personalities were given Special Awards for their dedication and commitment to the club. They are Head coach Ibrahim Fuseini, Kwame Kyei Yeboah and Enoch Otabil.

The ceremony was attended by personalities in the football fraternity, players, and technical staff.

The Club Chairman Mr Vaa congratulated all the award recipients and wished the others who couldn't pick up awards better luck in the coming season.

He reiterated his commitment to the club and his vision to see the club rise to the top in Ghana and world football following a stellar year, which saw them competing in the Gothia Cup and the Greater Accra division 2 league.

The club is set to announce a date for its recruitment ahead of the new season. GNA
