John Paintsil Denies Assaulting Wife

Former Ghanaian international, John Paintsil has debunked allegations assaulting his wife Richlove Paintsil years ago.

The former Fulham right-back was accused of mugging his wife after an argument between the two after the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in South Africa.

The energetic defender was later reported to be in police custody after his wife lodged complaints to the Police.

The situation subjected the 36-year-old to public ridicule after several international online portals reported the issue.

But speaking to KWESE TV in an interview, the former West Ham defender has denied the allegation.

“It was never true, I have never assaulted my wife, I don’t know where all those reports came from.

“I have a peaceful relationship with my wife, there were even reports that I stabbed her in the eye, how can that be.

“How can she be leaving if I stabbed her in the eye, I wish you see her now and testify for yourself whether or not I stabbed her in the eye.

“There was nothing of that sort, my wife is a wonderful woman and have been supporting me throughout my career,” he added.
