Unilever Golf tees off at Achimota

Accra, July 5. GNA - After the hectic Peugeot Challenge Golf tournament held at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra last Saturday, the country's golfers would once again assembly at the Achimota Golf Course on Saturday, July 9, to vie for this year's Unilever Golf Championship trophy.

More than 120 professional and amateur golfers are expected to participate in the one-day 18-Hole Stableford competition. Mr Kwame Saarah-Mensah, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club said entry requirement for the competition, would be for golfers with Handicap 24 and above for the Men with Handicap 27 for the Ladies. The Professionals would engage in a titanic two-day 36-Hole Scratch event beginning on Friday, July 8.

Mr Saarah-Mensah said the tournament would be played under the rules of the Royal Ancient Golf Club of Scotland and the local rules of the Achimota Golf Club.

Meanwhile, Paul Owusu-Baah and Margaret Oppong qualified at the Peugeot Challenge Golf tournament to represent Ghana in the International Peugeot Challenge Golf Tournament scheduled for Paris, France in August, this year.

Owusu-Baah returned 63 net while Margaret had 66 net to win the Men and the Ladies categories respectively at the Achimota Golf Course last Saturday.

More than 150 golfers took part in the competition jointly sponsored by Prestige Motor Company Limited and Lufthansa Airlines. 05 July 05
