Black Starlets captain, Eric Ayiah has averred that the Malians were too strong for them.

Ghana was booted out of the ongoing FIFA U17 World Cup after losing 2-1 to Mali, their third defeat to the same side this year having lost to the African Champions in the finals of the Africa U17 Championship finals and a pre-World Cup friendly played in Abu Dhabi.

Paa Kwesi Fabin and his boys could however not avenge those defeats to their counterparts hence suffered another loss to exit the World Cup.

Ayiah who scored three goals for Ghana in the competition admits Mali were the better side.

“To be honest, the Mali team is above us. They are too strong for us and they can win the title,” he told some Ghanaian pressmen.

“We did our best and tried to win so we could qualify to the next stage but it didn’t happen.”

Mali will play Spain in the semi-finals of the ongoing U-17 World Cup.
