There is a thrilling finale in store this weekend for the Ghana Premier League and Tema Youth will be at the heart of it.

There are two relegation spots to fill and the Tema club are one of five clubs in danger of going down. At the various league centres, ‘survival battles’ as designated by the media, will take place with the prize of another year in the top flight at stake for those who ultimately win.

Tema Youth must win their final game of the season against Bechem United who themselves need to win to stay up.

Coach of Tema Youth, Edward Nii Odoom who has made damning accusations of bribery against all clubs says they will stay up if games are played on a level playing field.

“It very difficult for both teams, we have 37 points they have 39 so even draw for Hearts of Oak will just send the team to division one. “We need a win at all cost so we’re going all out.

“If fringes and chronic doesn’t come into this week matches Tema Youth will stay. Fair games have never been played since three weeks ago with people predicting what will happen in matches,” he said.

Odoom has been strong in his criticism of referees and club owners this season and is not holding out much hope for whether the league will pass its integrity test on Sunday with two relegation places at stake.

“Coaches have done their best if club officials will stop influencing referees, the referee should come and officiate the match as they have been taught so that there will be fair play,” he said.

As many as nine teams would have to depend on the results of the last game to know if they can avoid relegation in the Ghana premier league.
