AshantiGold outplayed and whitewashed their Nigerian counterparts 7-0 in a friendly encounter at the Len Clay Sports Stadium on Sunday 19th June 2005. The match was a one-way traffic for AshGold that could have recorded a cricket score line but the attackers of AshGold squandered several clear opportunities to the relief of the visitors.

Speedster Ofosu “Tico-Tico” Amoah opened the score line in the 4th minute when Osei Kuffour gave an intelligent pass to Ofosu who showed no hesitation and fired a bullet that zoomed straight into the net for the first goal. Richard Awuah in the 5th minute also came close to scoring when Daniel Asamoah outran his marker and laid an in-swinger but Awuah could not properly connect the ball and was cleared away to safety.

Joe Hendricks was yellow carded in the 32nd minute for a rough play whilst Salu Banko also attracted a red card after receiving two yellow cards for dangerous plays forcing the visitors to play at a numerical disadvantage. Osei Kuffour again dummied Jacob Kabu in post for Power Rangers but his lob was blocked for Matthew Attiogbe to beautifully connect home the re-bounce for the second goal in the 41st minute.

Thomas Duah who has fully recovered from an injury after a long absence on the field of play announced his maiden appearance ever since he joined the Aboakese lads entertained the spectators with accurate passes and beautiful ball control. He however scored a classic goal in the 43rd minute after Kuffour had beaten two defenders in the 18yard box and released the ball to Duah who blasted a powerful shot that went straight into the net for the 3rd goal. Thomas Duah was however substituted for Mark Komade in the early part of the second half Richard Awuah's position was also taken over by Kofi Deblah. Matthew Attiogbe scored again in the 49th minute when he connected home Ofosu Amoah's cross from the right flank after Kuffour had waded through the defenders of the visiting team.

Attiogbe increased the tally to five after Kuffour and Ofosu Amoah had combined effectively mostly operating from the right flank that saw the defenders of Rangers chasing their shadows.

Later part of the game Mark Komade scored two quick goals to seal the doom making the score line 7-0 in favour of the soccer miners who have vowed to punish Accra Hearts of Oak at their own backyard come Thursday at the Ohene Djan sports Stadium.
