Bibiana Steinhaus became the Bundesliga's first female referee, taking charge of Hertha Berlin's draw against Werder Bremen.

Matthew Leckie netted the opener for Hertha, but Thomas Delaney equalised for Werder in the second half.

Steinhaus, 38 was appointed to Germany's top flight in May after six years officiating second-tier games.

In August, the police officer was in control of Bayern Munich's first-round German Cup win against Chemnitzer.

She also refereed the Women's Champions League final earlier this year and took charge of matches at Euro 2017.

On Saturday, Lorraine Watson became the first female referee in Scottish men's football when she officiated Edinburgh City's 1-0 win over Berwick Rangers in League Two.
