It is now confirmed that Sammy goalkeeper Sammy Adjei will not feature in Ghana's World cup qualifier against South Africa on Saturday.

Team doctor Martin Engman, told Joy Sports the Hearts of Oak goalkeeper who picked up the knee injury during the Stars' training session last Friday will not recover in time to feature in the crucial qualifier.

Ashanti Gold goalkeeper George Owu has joined the team in Kenya to replace Sammy Adjei.

Coach Ratomir Dujkovic also has at his disposal, Liberty Professionals' Patrick Antwi and Sanni Mohammed from Hearts of Oak as they step up preparations for the decisive 2006 World Cup duel.

However, the Black Stars squad has been bolstered by the arrival of Olympique Lyon midfielder, Michael Essien, Joy Sports gathers.

After a medical check-up in France on a shoulder injury that forced the player out of the last game against Burkina Faso, the Essien is rearing to have a go at the South Africans.
