Cape Coast, June 10, GNA - GUNSA Champions, University of Cape Coast (UCC), played a determined game but succumbed 2-1 to Ebusua Dwarfs in a friendly soccer match played at the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium on Thursday. The match, which formed part of the preparations of the UCC team towards the West Africa University Games, produced no scores at the end of the first half.
The University graduates from the onset combined beautifully in attack with the forward line made up of Leonard Sackey, Gyaba Sanni, captain Sebastian Amegashi and Rafig Ahmoah creating anxious moments for the Premier league side. They created several goal chances but the forwards squandered the opportunities to end the first half goalless.
On resumption of the second half, both sides made some changes but it was Dwarfs who benefited from the chances to score the opener in the 54th minute through their midfielder, Ekow Aikins. Dwarfs continued to pile pressure on the UCC lads and it came as no surprise when Aikins was on target again to register the second goal in the 75th minute. The UCC team in an effort to redeem their image forced the tide in their favour and following persistent pressure on Dwarfs, substitute Dugu Davies reduced the tally to 2-1 in the 85th minute.
