Tennis McDan  Juniors Tennis Open Championship Slated For August 20-26

The 2017 edition of the McDan Juniors Tennis Open Championship was launched on Wednesday at the Tennis Courts of the Accra Sports Stadium.

Tournament Director Nat Attoh told the media, the event is coming at the right time when most of the young participants are on vacation and having time to train, while some of them have been selected for training camps.

He expressed disappointment that no Ghanaian is ranked among the top 300 in the World Tennis Federation (WTF) and efforts must be made to identify and groom talents who can star for the nation internationally.

“We need good foundation, and this is exactly what McDan Group and Dr. Dan Mckorley is doing in developing and promoting Tennis in Ghana” he said.

Obodia Sai, a representative of McDan Group hoped for an exciting tournament looking at the recent quality training that some players have got and the interest of the youth.

Derek Dei Tutu, a rep of Nationwide Mutual Health Insurance and Health Net announced their collaboration to unearth Tennis talents and ensure healthy lifestyle in the kids.

The President of the Ghana Tennis Federation, Mr. Duah thanked the major sponsor of Ghana Tennis McDan and his partners as well as the media for sustaining and raising the image of Ghana Tennis in recent times.

The event meant for Under12, Under14 and Under16 Boys and Girls has attractive medals and prizes from the sponsors.

The sponsors for this year’s McDan Juniors Tennis Open are McDan Group, AfWest Security, Trillium Ghana Ltd and Nationwide Mutual Health Insurance.
