Stephen Appiah Impressed With Talent In Kumasi As Part Of The Betway Talent Search

Over 300 participants were vetted as part of Betway’s Talent Search Initiative to discover the next ‘Stephen Appiahs’ of our generation last weekend.

The initiative which was launched in May seeks to discover the best of local talent in Ghana when it comes to football.

The search team led by former Black Stars skipper, Stephen Appiah, who is also the lead Ambassador for the Project were at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Paa Joe Park last Saturday to vet the over 300 participants who had applied to be part of the Talent Search initiative.

Stephen Appiah expressed his excitement about the talents in Kumasi and praised Betway for the “laudable cause.”

“It is getting interesting because we have discovered some of the talents. We will see what will happen next week in Accra. Let me take this opportunity to thank Betway for this laudable cause and being the ambassador, I am really happy,” Appiah stated.

Kwabena Oppong Nkrumah, the Marketing Officer of Betway was also thrilled to witness talents from as far as the Upper West region joining the team in Kumasi to participate in the talent hunt program.

“We saw people come from as far away as the upper west region and he couldn’t even speak any other language apart from that of his native tongue and I think that is very exciting, it shows you the power of football and it shows you why brands like Betway are behind football. We want to engage people, we need to bring people together and football is an amazing platform.”

This Betway initiative holds promise for many aspirational footballers across the country. It promises to give Ghanaians between the ages of 18 and 25 the chance to play in front of the top football scouts across the country, and the chance for them to be signed to a football club if they prove themselves.

The first 500 entrants to apply for the initial round in each region will be accepted. Betway will contact the successful entrants, inviting them to the Betway Talent Search itself which will be held on the following day;
