JUL 12, 2017 LISTEN

Asante Kotoko suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at the hands of Inter Allies as their unbeaten run in the second round came to an end in Accra on Wednesday.

The Porcupine Warriors have lost for the first time under English manager Steven Polack after eight games without a loss in all competitions and ahead of the much anticipated Super Clash with arch rivals Hearts of Oak in Kumasi this Sunday.

The only goal of the game came in the first half as wonder kid Abdul Halik Hudu scored to secure maximum points for the Eleven is to One side.

The game produced no clear chance after 20 minutes as both sides were left to shoot from long range on a very dry surface.

However, Abdul- Halik Hudu broke the deadlock for the home side in the 28th minute. Captain Isaac Twum played a delightful pass to Nassiru Hamzah who with arches of space took his time to control before teeing up Hudu to score.

Kotoko almost restored parity but in-form striker Saddick Adams' ferocious header went narrowly went wide.

Things got nasty in the dying embers of the first half and referee Prince Amoah did not hesitate to send off Kotoko defender Evans Quao and Inter Allies striker Isaac Osae after a series of head-butts and elbowing in Inter Allies penalty box.

Both players were engaged in street fight on their way to the dressing room as it took some soldiers to calm things down between the players and the technical bench of both teams.

Kotoko started the second half on the front foot as they mounted relentless pressure on the Inter Allies defence but there were unable to break the strong defensive line of the home side.

Inter Allies were able to survive the early storm from the Porcupine Warriors as they begun to establish authority on the field of play as they frustrated the players of Kotoko

with some delaying antics.
Inter Allies were able to maintain a firm grasp on their lead as the secured maximum points and moved up to fifth on the league log.
