Avornyotse wins Tropical Cables Invitational Golf

Tema, July 11, GNA - Geoff Avornyotse returned a net score of 71 to win the first Tropical Cables and Conductors Limited Invitational Golf Championship played at the Tema Country Golf Course.

Alfred Baku took the second position with 77 net, Kweku Okyere placed third with 78 net while Kwadwo Amponsah came fourth with 80 net.

In the Ladies encounter, Mona Captan Myles-Lamptey came first with 74 net, Margaret Owusu-Baah took the second position with 81net while Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong placed third with 83 net.

In the Men's Scratch event reserved for Handicap 0-6 golfers, Francis Akwasi Opoku came first with 70 net, while Teye Lartey Gberbie came second with 72 net.

Augustin4 Mensah won the Men's Group 'B' segment with 80 net, Beningo Mimis placed second with 81 net, while Ebenezer Ayanful placed third with 84 net.

Colonel Eric Asase came first in the Senior category with 77 net, while Brigadier Joseph Odei took the second position with 80 net.

Joseph Nettey, Captain of the Tema Country Golf Club commended the company for sponsoring the competition and called on other corporate bodies to help develop the sport.

Mr Tony Oteng-Gyasi, Managing Director of Tropical Cables and Conductors Limited said it was the policy of the company to support the community in which it operated.

He gave the assurance that the competition would be an annual affair and urged the youth to take sports seriously to enable them to stay healthy at all times. GNA
