Koforidua, May 25, GNA - The defending champions of the Inter Schools and Colleges Milo Soccer Championship, New Juaben College of Commerce(NJUACOCO) on Tuesday beat Twene Amanfo Secondary Technical School(Twene Amanfo) of Sunyani by two goals to nil at the on-going Nestle Milo Sports festival at the Koforidua Sports Stadium. The win, which was the second to be recorded on the trot by the defending champions, had therefore brightened their chances to qualify to the next stage of the competition in their bid to defend the Cup they won last year.

After referee Paul Aggrey whistled for the commencement of the game, it was NJUACOCO who demonstrated their desire to carry the day after referee Paul Aggrey whistled for the commencement of the game and quickly went into action by testing the Twene Amanfo keeper who responded with some impressive saves.

In the 24th minute, Njuascoco's Kpakpo Akweson lifted the ball over the on-rushing Twene Amanfo's keeper who struggled to grab it but the ball slipped through his hands into the net for the opening goal. After the goal, the game was concentrated in the mid-field with both teams occasionally making some incursions into each others goal area but failed to find the net as the scorching sun seemed to have its toll on most of the players to make any impact.

Just as the game seemed to be heading for a one-nil score, Andrews Coffie of NJUACOCO made it two in a goal-mouth melee with just eleven minutes to the end.

The beauty of the game was nearly marred after the goal as the players of Twene Amanfo protested vehemently that the player scored with the aid of his hand but referee Aggrey would have none of that as he whistled for a goal.

The referee had to be escorted by the police off the field as some of the players and officials of Twene Amanfo kept protesting. In the other matches played, Prempeh College recorded a lone goal win over Wa Technical Institute (WATECH), St John's School of Sekondi humiliated Salaga Secondary School (SASS) with a three goal win while Tamale Secondary School(TAMASCO) also beat Bolgatanga Technical Institute(BOTECH) by a lone goal.

In the Under-12 boys soccer matches, Greater Accra recorded an impressive 4-1 win over Central Region, Volta Region lost 1-2 to Eastern Region, Ashanti Region beat Brong Ahafo Region 2-0 while Western Region suffered 1-3 loss to the Northern Region team.
