Let This ‘Beautiful Picture’ Reflects In Your Homecoming And The Rest Would Be History

Bees that have honey in their mouth have stings in their tails, so the proverb says.

In their attempt to have as many supporters throng to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday when the Black Stars take on Ethiopia in the 2019 African Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifier, the management committee of the team led by George A. Afriyie have been going from one radio station to the other in the Garden City trying to melt down the anger of the people.

This move by the management committee of the Black Stars could be a smart one, but I rather there say that it is nothing short of cosmetology since it’s not sustainable going forward.

Ghanaians lost their love for the Black Stars due to how post Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup issues was managed by the then management committee and to some extent players of the team who thought they owe no obligation or whatsoever to render an apology to the nation.

In their naivety, some players even went on radio to say that monies they earn whiles playing for the senior national team is very justifiable because football is their profession and must be paid as such anytime they wear the national jersey.

Banterifically, the supporters who are not paid by the state for rendering their supports to the team also decided to redraw their supports to concentrate on their daily activities that feed their households. In the end, it was the Black Stars that suffered and things have never been the same thereafter.

The people of Kumasi and the entire nation can only forgive the Black Stars if they are able to give us a memorable score line on Sunday. To achieve this, the Ghana Football Association [GFA] must give coach Kwesi Appiah and his technical team one hundred percent [%] support.

Kwesi Appiah has already won the heart of many a soccer fan with the kind of players he invited for the task ahead, especially the number of local players in the team this time around which is quite unprecedented.

Again, the chemistry between the coach, his assistants, and the players portrays a sense of unity in the team judging from afar and that is what every well meaning Ghanaian is hoping to see it reflect on the field of play. After all, we can never forget what happened in Brazil, but continuous sterling performances by the Black Stars could heal the wounds of Brazil 2014.

Coincidentally, the Black Stars had almost won the heart of the nation back in the last African Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Gabon until that famous Razak Briamah’s Facebook video which was very unnecessary.

It is an undeniable fact that some few Ghanaians not excluding journalists have, one way or the other benefited from the purse of some few players, but what the entire nation wants from them is to see them give us some reason to support them which is to play their hearts out.

Before I sign out here for a cup of Hausa kooko, let me quickly wish the team good luck whilst cautioning them that only aesthetic performance reminiscent of the headline picture [above] could cure that chronic disease they have infested the nation with.
