Koforidua (E/R), June 06, GNA - The Eastern Region Division Two League would start on Thursday, June 18, the Regional Football Association (RFA) has announced.

Mr. Abdul Lawal, the Chairman, said the decision was taken at a consultative meeting held with club officials in Koforidua.

He indicated that issues relating to player registration, payment of affiliation and officiating fees were also sorted.

The league was originally scheduled to kick off on June 11, but had to be pushed back because about a-half of the number of the clubs had not obtained player registration cards.

Mr. Lawal reminded the clubs to pay their affiliation and officiating fees to enable the Association raise enough funds to run the league and conduct its other activities.

The Vice Chairman, Mr Linford Asamoah, encouraged club officials to study and become more conversant with the football governing rules and laws.

That, he said, was necessary to remove needless on and off the field confusion and tension.

He added that they should also be familiar with the process of filing a match protest.

In all, 66 clubs are expected to participate in this year's league in the region.
