A special golf competition would be played in honour of departed soldier Captain Maxwell Mahama, Ghana Golf Association (GGA) President, Mike Aggrey has announced in Accra.

To the GGA boss, circumstances leading to the Army Officer's gruesome murder qualify him for the honour which is usually reserved for golfers of long standing membership.

The deceased soldier joined the Bok Nam Kin Golf Club, Burma Camp in Accra only a month ago; and was awaiting his handicap until his untimely death a few days ago.

Commenting on the said incident, the GGA President lamented that this should not be allowed to go unpunished and called for an end to mob instant justice which has engulfed our otherwise peace loving country.

The President confirmed that a date will be announced soon after consultation with the bereaved family for a golfing farewell for Captain Maxwell Mahama.

Meanwhile, the county's golf governing body has commended the five man IMC team of the Royal Golf Club Kumasi, highly for the professional manner in which the recently held 60th Asantehene Vodafone Golf Open Championship was conducted.

He wished the Club well and said he expects other clubs to emulate the example of the Royal Golf Club.
