Ghanaian-born Joetex Frimpong's Nigerian club, Enyimba of Aba, on Sunday maintained their leadership of the Nigerian Premier League after a 1-0 win over rivals, Enugu Rangers FC, in rescheduled league match.

An impressive performance by Rangers goal tender, Segun Oluwaniyi, discipline by the Rangers defence and of course the attacking tendencies of the Joetex led Enyimba attackers ensured this rescheduled league match lived up to its billing as Nigeria's match of the week. In fact, many believe it would remain the best match played this term, in Nigeria.

Rangers must thank Segun Oluwaniyi, who frustrated Ghana's Ashanti Kotoko in last year's Confederations Cup for putting up a good performance on match day. Enyimba's trio of Joetex, David Tyakase and Nnaemeka Onovo made several attempts at goal, but their efforts were thwarted by the tall Oluwaniyi.

However, with just eleven minutes to go, substitute Sakibu Atanda, slammed home a loose ball after Oluwaniyi parried a Mutiu Adegoke cross, with the Rangers duo of captain, Okey Odita and Kabiru Ibrahim standing without any attempt to stop the young forward.

Enyimba's coach, Okey Emordi introduced Dauda Aboh for Joetex in the 85th minute of the tension soaked encounter. The African double champions remain unbeaten after 13 weeks of matches in the league.

Sunday's victory increased Enyimba's points haul to 31 points, seven ahead of second placed Gombe United, which has 24 and eight points ahead of Enugu Rangers, which has 23 points but with an outstanding match against bottom placed Gateway FC.

Line-Up: Enyimba: Dele Aiyenugba, Yusuf Mohammed, Mutiu Adegoke, Musa Aliyu, Odey Ogar, Uche Sherrif, Daniel Njoku/ Atanda Shakibu (46th), David Tyavkase, Joetex Frimpong/ Dauda Aboh (85th), Prince Olomu, Nnaemeka Onovo
