It hasn't been an easy journey but I'm grateful for how far God has brought me..

Even though I'm not shocked for winning this award but came to me when I least expected it..

It all began in 2006 when my sports perfect invited me to watch my first hockey game as a student of OSU Presbyterian Snr High. I was an athlete by then, 100 meters 200 4*100 were my favorites. Nobody could beat me to that during inter houses and inter schools athletes Championships

I gradually developed an amazing interest and passion for hockey so had to leave behind my first love "Athletes".

After second cycle education in 2007 I decided to pursue hockey fully. I then started with the basics of hockey. My friends were very resourceful and taught me everything I needed to know.

In November 2007 I was ready to go into the game. I was fortunate to have began with Real Ambassadors. In my second year(2008) as I player of real Ambassadors I received my maiden call up into the National U21, i was perplexed to have received a call up.

In 2009 the ultimate followed, where I was given a call up into the Black Sticks. It hasn't been easy but God has always been faithful. Injuries are part of sports but God's protection and experience helps us to avoid serious injuries. I love to play and have always played my heart out for the team and our fans.

Miss Rachel Bamfo joined Ghana Fire service in 2011 after going through the necessary recruitment and training processes. So many services came calling but I opted for Extinguishers because of one Mr. Abass and other great players whom I loved to watch were There. Madam Beatrice Darko was one of my greatest inspiration. Her control and silky run made me copy every aspect of her game. Rachel has grown to be become an integral member of the Black Sticks and a reliable backbone of the extinguishers.

It hasn't been easy ever since Officer Georgian Sam handed over to me but my colleagues and coaches have been very supportive. We hope to continue the good works we have already started.

Rachel Bamfo is known for her pace, trickery and always trying to create excitement in the game with her amazing celebrations.

One of my greatest goal was a lone goal I scored against Nigeria in 2013 in an anniversary match to honour the late former President Professor John Evans Atta Mills.

"I'm privileged to have traveled and played on the best pitches in the world but that didn't come easy. I will edge up and coming players to be disciplined, time conscious, hardworking and focused, nothing is unachievable
