Kick Boxing Champ Lawrence Nmai Excited About Second SWAG Award

Switzerland based Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai who is coming to Ghana purposely to receive the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Award for the second time has thanked the media for their role in the promotion and development of sports in Ghana.

Speaking to Yours Truly before arrival he said the SWAG must be commended for sustaining the awards over 40 years and praised the executives and members led by The Writer Kwabena Yeboah.

Nmai, son of the founder of the Labadi Pleasure Beach who first received the SWAG award in 2010 after clinching bronze at the World KickBoxing Championship in Scotland hinted that this year is special because he fought a very tough fighter in his home in Germany to win the World Martial Arts Committee WMAC 86kg World title as well as a WBC Muay Thai Belt.

He dedicated the belts to the people of Ghana and believes there are people who can represent and shine for Ghana in international competition.

He hoped to defend his titles at home is there are sponsors and promoters to take up the world title challenge.

He commended the new GOC headed by Ben Nunoo Mensah who was also nominated for Best Sports Chairman award and urged him to press on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to make Muay Thai a full Olympic Sport.
