Golf MTN headlines south African freedom day golf tournament

Accra, May 7, GNA - Ghana's leading telecommunication network, MTN Ghana has this year headlined the South African Golf Tournament, in Accra to mark the 23rd Anniversary of South Africa's Freedom Day.

The annual tournament, which took place at the Celebrity Golf Course in Sakumono, Accra was the fourth in Ghana since its commencement.

The one-day event, which saw Madam Owusu Adjapong and Aseda Wilson winning by 41 points in the female category and Joe Dadson and Sampson Asorgba also winning with 44 points in the male category brought competing golfers from South Africa joining their counterparts in Ghana to commemorate the day.

In an interview with Mr Sam Koranteng, senior manager, regulatory at MTN said they were committed to promoting golf in the country.

'Aside our main area of business in telecommunication, sports go to the individual's health and it helps in the development of the country and social economic activities as well.

'In supporting this event we bring together golfers in Ghana and corporate institutions, who support golf'.

Ms. Emma Wenani, Director at Global Media Alliance (GMA), who were the organizers of the one-day event noted that 'GMA was proud to be a part of the event that had an impressive turn out' and also promised of her outfits continues partnership with the south African community in Ghana.

MTN Ghana has a long history of spearheading sporting events in the country and the Golf event is one of the many tournaments adopted by the telecommunications company this year.
