Accra, April 26, GNA - The President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Mr. Ben Nunoo- Mensah has commended the organisers of the GNPC Ghana's Fastest Human competition for their tremendous effort for the initiative.

The GNPC Ghana's fastest human headed by a former National athlete Mr. Reks Brobbey is aimed at identifying and giving recognition to athletes who excel in the competition.

Speaking at the launch of the 2017 GNPC Ghana's Fastest Human race at the Adidas House in Accra, Mr. Nunoo-Mensah noted that government alone cannot fund all the sports development programs, hence the need for sports stakeholders to get involved in developing sports in the country.

He said 'we all owe a duty to our young boys and girls to help them identify their talent, nurture it and develop it, to its fullest potential. It is therefore gratifying when individuals like Reks Brobbey who after a very illustrious athletic career, has now devoted his time, energy, resources and network to help our young boys and girls live their dream and secure a future for them'.

The GOC President who doubles as the President of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF), congratulated Mr. Brobey for opening sponsorship deals with Techno Mobile, Standard Chartered Bank and now GNPC.

According to him, he believed it was the credibility, accountability, transparency and good human relationship that won him the trust, and urged other sports associations and administrators to emulate.

He also thanked Dr. Dan Mckorley of McDan fame for his enormous contributions towards sporting activities in Ghana.
