Kante, 26, beat Eden Hazard, Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexis Sanchez in the vote by his fellow players.
Amartey enjoyed a half season with Kante as they contributed to Leicester City's impressive Premier League triumph last term.
