As many as 59 top tennis players are contending for honours at this year’s McDan West African Open taking place at the Accra Sports Stadium Tennis Courts.

The championship which started on Monday and ends on Saturday has attractive cash prize of $10,000 to be shared by winners in both male and female categories. The winner takes home $3,000 and products of sponsors.

The 32 male and 27 female top ranked tennis players are being offered the opportunity into fame and fortune courtesy McDan Logistics Ltd, GNPC, umb, Cocobod, AfWest Security and Rush Energy Drink.

Die Hard Supporters Union are also represented fully to cheer the players and make the courts lively.

President Apirigu Chakapama told Yours Truly they support all sports and will be with the McDan Tennis for the whole week.

Nat Attoh of Joy Sports, the McDan Tennis Open organizer hinted that the tournament is going to be keenly contested this season because there are players drawn from Nigeria who want to defend their titles and some rising Ghanaians who are eager to reach the top.

Dr. Daniel McKorley, a Businessman and Philantropist is the brain behind the McDan Open which has grown to be recognized as a major international tennis event in Ghana.

Other nationals from Cote d’Voire, Benin, Burkina Faso, Togo and Belgium taking part in the competition.
