Chairman of the Premier League Board Ashford Tetteh Oku has commended new Black Stars Head Coach Kwesi Appiah for showing interest in the local football even before his tenure as Black Stars boss begins.

Kwesi Appiah was spotted at Liberty's penalty shootout win over fellow premier league side Inter Allies in the F.A Cup over the weekend.

Former Black Stars head coach Avram Grant was criticized for his seeming neglect of the local league, and he especially came under fire when his final squad for the 2017 AFCON did not include any player from the local league.

Kwesi Appiah's presence at the Liberty game received a lot of praise and Mr. Tettey Oku believes his continual showing at games will influence the level of competition in league.

'It is very important to have a coach of a national team taking keen interest in the local league, and the division one league as well.

Apart from enhancing the value of the league, it also increases the level of competitiveness between the players, because once they hear that the national team coach is present they will double up their performances, he said.

Kwesi Appiah will officially begin his second spell as Black Stars head coach on 1st May.
