Sports News Richard Kingson opens door on the possibility of working with new Black Stars coach
APR 24, 2017 LISTEN

Former Black Stars goalkeeper, Richard Kingson, says he is willing to help new national team coach, Kwesi Appiah in any capacity.

Kingson was Ghana's main man between the sticks between 2006 and 2012 and he featured for the Black Stars in the 2006 and 2010 World Cups as well as the 2008 and 2010 African Nations Cup tournaments.

Kingson has been linked with a place in Appiah's backroom as a goalkeeper's trainer but nothing official has been stated by the Ghana Football Association. The former Wigan and Blackpool goalkeeper believes he is capable of helping the nation and he is ready to support Kwesi Appiah.

'Just like a lot of Ghanaians, I have also heard rumours of my inclusion into Kwesi Appiah's backroom but I am waiting for the invitation. When you finish  your career, you would like to coach or run a business. So, if this opportunity presents itself, I would like to honour it to help the youth to go where I was unable to so they can help the nation achieve something.'

The Ghana FA and Kwesi Appiah will meet this week to discuss matters relating to the back room of the national team, his contract and other issues.
