Joetex, teammates, compound Insurance woes in Nigeria

Less than eight days after scoring a brace in his club's 6-1 annihilation of Zambian Champions, Red Arrows, in the second leg of their CAF Champions League clash in Lusaka, Zambia, Ghanaian-born Nigeria based striker, Joetex Frimpong, has hit target again.

Last Saturday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin -City, Joetex and his teammates in his Nigerian club, Enyimba, compounded the woes of their hosts, Bendel Insurance, in a domestic league match in Nigeria by recording a comprehensive 3-0 away win over the Benin side that was eliminated by Ghanaian side, King Faisal, in the CAF Confederations Cup, last week.

The result is the worst by Insurance in recent times and only a miracle would see the club's embattled coach, Godwin Uwua escape a sack.

Joetex, the club's leading scorer in the Champions League, began the humiliation of Bendel Insurance, who were still trying to heal the wounds of their elimination by King Faisal.

The Ghanaian hit target from close range after 20 minutes of play put fear in minds of the home fans who had expected their darling team to rise to the occasion.

Joetex's roommate and friend, Muri Ogunbiyi, who is a Republic of Benin International doubled the lead 10 minutes into the second half to further embarass their hosts, while substitute Ifeanyi Obediah, a Nigerian junior international scored the third goal on match day after spending five minutes on the pitch.

The victory has increased the club's points haul to 25 and the African champions maintain their leadership of the 20-team table.

Speaking with www.ghanaweb.com after the match, Joetex said: "It was a good result for me and my colleagues. With this, we are sure that Enyimba can end the season as champions after Dolphins puntured our target last term."

Saturday's performance has sent jitters to other clubs campaigning in the league as the African champions are yet to lose a match in the 12-week old league.

Enyimba would host their Eastern neighbours, Iwuanyanwu Nationale next week in a match that promises to be exciting considering the presence of four former players of the club in Nationale. The players are Chibuzor Ozurumba, Romanus Orjinta, Ndidi Anumunu and Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama.
