League Report After The Storm: Tema Youth Held As Aduana Stars Pip Great Olympics
APR 11, 2017 LISTEN

Late second half goal from Theophilus Ogoe was enough for Tema Youth to secure 1-1 drawn game with defending champions, Wa All Stars at the Tema Community 3 Park on Monday.

The champions [Wa All Stars] took the lead in the 77th minute when midfielder Moses Nyarko connected from David Abagna’s cross into the goal area.

The home side [Tema Youth] however, did not give up as they fought gallantly in the dying minutes of the game.

Their effort was rewarded in the 93rd minute when defender Theophilus Ogoe ghosted his way into the visitors eighteen to pull even for the Habour City Boys.

Below are the starting line-ups of the teams:
Tema Youth: Christian Addai [GK], Jacobs Larweh [Capt ], Theophilus Ogoh, Malik Antiri, Emmanuel Tsibu, Joseph Paintsil, James Akaminko, Michael Kporvi, Ekow Benson, Benjamin Armah, Issah Hafizah.

WA All Stars: Rashid Seidu [GK], Richard Arthur [Capt], Isshaku Konda, Eric Oppong, Moses Nyarko, Nasiru Moro, David Abagna, Seth Amoateng, Paul Asare, Jeffrey Degol.

Elsewhere in Accra, two first half goals from Dan Quaye [own goal] and Godfred Saka was enough for 10-man Aduana Stars to record 2-1 victory over Great Olympics.

Dan Quaye gifted Aduana Stars the lead in the 12th minute when he attempted to clear Derrick Sasraku’s effort which was miscued into his own net.

Godfred Saka was given the red for his clumsy challenge on Douglas Mintah in the 35th minute but poor communication between Dan Quaye and goalkeeper Abraham Odonkor allowed Bright Adjei who was lurking in the goal area to extend the lead for the visitors in the 39th minute.

Great Olympics pulled one goal back in the 70th minute through Abel Manomey who was put through by substitute Godwin Attram but it wasn’t enough to salvage a point for Great Olympics as Aduana move closer to the neck of WAFA on the league log with 21 points.

The two games came to an abrupt halt yesterday due to a heavy downpour in the Great Accra on Sunday, April 09, 2017.
