Executive Committee Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer has quashed rumours circulating in the media that Kwesi Appiah has been given the nod as Black Stars coach.

According to media reports, the six-member committee that were mandated by the Ghana FA to search for Avram Grant's replacement has finalized their work by choosing Kwesi Appiah as the right man to lead the team.

Nevertheless, Wilfred Palmer has debunked the reports by claiming the reports are untrue hence it should be treated as rumours.

'No coach has been appointed as the coach of the Black Stars," Osei told GNA.

"We are still in search for a coach and we don't want anybody to ridicule the process.'

'We know what exactly we are looking for.'
"If at a certain point, we feel that Kwesi Appiah is the right man for the job, we won't hesitate to offer him the job.'

'For now, other suitors are being considered for the job and that's what we have now.'

The GFA reportedly received applications over 110 coaches, including four natives but the list has since been narrowed down to five coaches with Kwesi Appiah being the only local coach in the shortlist.

Ghana's Ministry for Sports has also publicly declared its support for the appointment of a local trainer.
