MAR 29, 2017 LISTEN

Unfaltering President of the Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi remains resolute that Ghana can still qualify for the 2018 World Cup despite a poor start in the campaign.

Ghana's poor start to the qualifiers in a bid for a fourth consecutive appearance at the World Cup has been thrown in a massive doubt with the West Africans drawing their opening game with Uganda at home and losing to Egypt in Alexandria.

But the relentless FA capo insists his charges could still make it to the world fiesta in Russia next year.

'The Black Stars have a mathematical chance of qualifying for the World Cup. We shall fight till the last match,' he told InsideAfricaFootball WhatsApp platform in an interview.

Ghana will however have to win all their remaining group matches and hope Egypt slips to secure a ticket to appear at their fourth World Cup tournament.

The Black Stars are currently third on the table with a point behind Egypt and Uganda and first and second positions respectively.

The CAF ExCo member however noted that the Black Stars will only have to qualify on merit and fairness.

"We want to qualify on grounds of fairness and meritocracy. Not a life and death affair for us," he added.
